When you add an account to your list, do they get notified like on twitter? Or do they know at all that they are on any list?
i’ve looked online for a bit but i don’t seem to find the answers i want, they just exolain what lists do

On mastodon you can only add an account you follow to a list. They get notified when you follow them, not when they’re added to a list.
Worth noting that, at least as of the last time I checked, this wasn’t necessarily true of other fesiverse microblogs with list features. Like, I think you can add someone to a list or an antenna or something in Misskey without having to follow them first, so there’s no notification
