Life is sitting. Sit up in bed, sit in car, sit in office, repeat until bedtime. And if you think about it - laying down is really just the advanced/ultimate form of sitting.
Wow this thread makes me comment multiple times, and I feel shittier and shittier the more comments I relate with.
Smoking meth and imbibing.
Overindulgence with a splash of occasional misanthropy
Vaping or drinking.
Comfort Eating.
I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. I tried weed and found it uninteresting and never did anything harder. I exercise regularly.
But I’ll still never be the platonic ideal of a “healthy person”, because whenever I’m sad, I need processed sugar to feel like a person again. And brother, does life give me reasons to be sad.
For me it’s impulse eating. I badly need impulse control in many areas of my life.
Samesies. I remember back in college powering through a writing assignment with a 2L bottle of Coke and a 1lb. bag of M&Ms. Totally not healthy, but I learned later that it has to do with the relationship between insulin and neurotransmitters, like dopamine.
I think I need to read up on that link more.
Bad sleeping habits and eating high sodium food, besides that I don’t drink, smoke, consume sugar, or do drugs, so I’m good.
I smoke.
Was smoking but thankfully I quit that before kids. Currently it is sleep. Both kids are night owls and I just want an hour of computer time at night 😜.
I go without changing bedsheets for a bit longer than i should
Hey, me too!
Add me to the unwashed bedsheets club lmao
It’s just so much of an ordeal imo
is it that you couldn’t remember to? or you knew but didn’t bother anyway?
Nah I’m just lazy. I’m sitting on two months for my current one
do they really need changing that often though
i don’t go to bed covered in mud so all my sheets get is a bit of occasional sweat at night, i don’t get why we should change them so often. they don’t even smell!
Bro…
That’s once a year💀. Buddy, even my lazy ass couldn’t take it that far. I’m talking usually 2-3 months. I would only change it if i was having… company… Iykwim
Politics
Over the years having supported one party or the other I can tell you that it’s all about people wanting power over others and then ensuring that they keep it. Their reality is totally different than the reality we, the 99%, live in that they can no longer even relate to us. There is no chance that they would actually understand the issues that affect regular people and then offer solutions that would actually solve those issues. Best advice is to simply try to enjoy life. Have you ever been a big fan of a sports team? They lose and you get depressed? Politics is no different. The players of the team that you admire couldn’t care less about you and neither do politicians of either party. They only tell you what they think that you want to hear so you will vote for them and keep them in power
the connection between politics and sports tells me youre a well-off white male.
I understand that you have no threat of material loss when the wrong ‘sports team’ is in power, many people will actually face the consequences of the elites actions though.
I understand if you want to ignore this fact, but it is a fact.
Actually a Black Male who has never received one dime as a government hand out. Parents taught me not to be jealous of others and just get educated. I did. Since my college degrees were in fields that employers valued I didn’t find it hard to get a job. I was hired for my skills not the tint of my skin. I’ve found that people who like to be victims believe what politicians actually can turn them from losers into winners. People can cry all they want about how awful life is but each individual can achieve a productive successful life if realize all they have to do is tune out all the bullshit and apply themselves. I realize that most people don’t want to hear stuff like this because getting educated is hard work. Being a victim is easy. And interestingly no change of government at either the federal or state level has ever had a significant plus or minus effect on my life. But those who are victims always seem sure that a change in political control is going to be a horror show.
a black male should understand greater than anyone that systematic and economic oppression (made by governments and corporations) are the the things keeping people from ‘getting educated and a good job’
edit - realised i am trying to have a reasonable discussion that posts about fucking their gfs mum
It must be a burden to have all the right answers for everyone. What insight it must take to be able to tell a Black Male what they should think. I feel honored that you would take the time to correct me. As a Black Male how I could I possibly know how non black people have determined how I should think and “feel”.
Systematic and economic oppression are the forever excuses for those that embrace being victims. There is a big world out there of non White people who are successful because their parents told them not to believe the bullshit of forever racism.
Still smoking while drinking but now only drink 2 days a week and then completely dry the other 5 days
I clench my jaw day and night, like constantly. Not intentionally, and I wear a mouthguard to protect my teeth at night, but I’m not really in control of the clenching and it causes downstream effects. Some mornings I can’t open my jaw all the way. I had the feeling of water trapped in my ear (I thought it was from using the pool at the gym), but the ENT told me it was from TMJ. At least a couple times a week I end up with a headache that starts in my jaw and teeth, radiates up my sinuses, and on really bad days, results in light sensitivity and blurred vision.
Caffeine increased my muscle tension. Muscle relaxants counteracted it. Now off both, taking lots of magnesium.
Sorry if this is too personal, but I’ve heard magnesium can cause diarrhea. Does that happen to you? Also, what kind of magnesium do you take, and is your bruxism related to anxiety?
I’ve heard magnesium oxide is the most diarrheic and least effective otherwise, so I avoid that. I take magnesium citrate, carbonate, hydroxide, acetate, malate, bisglycinate, taurate, gluconate, or whatever combination of them happens to be cheap. Never tried threonate because it’s so expensive.
There was even more anxiety with caffeine, so yeah, related.
Doom scrolling
Craving sugary drinks. I tend to get a big craving late afternoon. I try to stay away from sodas mostly, but I still wind up drinking sweet tea or lemonade, and an energy drink a couple days a week.
Unsweetened black iced tea mixed with lemonade has half the sugar, enough caffeine to help, and tastes really good.
I will try that.
