So I never got deep into anime but I’ve been slowly working through my backlog of mostly Studio Ghibli movies and this morning Grave of the Fireflies jumped out as sounding interesting.
I was surprised to see it looks like there are THREE different English dubs and was wondering which is everyone’s favorite or if there is a fan consensus on which is “the best” version.
I assume the original Japanese with subtitles is the best way to watch it and I will probably rewatch it that way myself, I’ll be watching with someone who English is a second language and just can’t keep up with subtitles.
No one can answer this question. In order to compare different dubs you would have to watch this movie multiple times! NO ONE has the emotional fortitude to survive that!
Warning: Around minute 20 I began crying and didn’t stop until the movie ended. I hadn’t cried for years before that, so beware you’re prepared for that.
This is why I have it saved to my watchlist but keep putting it off lol. I have to be in the right mood for that kind of ugly crying.
