Empathy
I agree with this advice of having someone take a look at your resume. Way back, I had an older friend of mine with experience managing CV’s help me work on mine and even the base template of my cover letters. I’ve done a number of interviews, mostly unsuccessful though I’m happy with where I’m at now, and one consistent thing I’ve heard is that I have an impressive resume, and I’m forever thankful to my friend for helping me put it together.
I don’t quite agree on customizing your CV for every submission, but I do do this for my cover letter/correspondence.
Also, yes, reaching out directly to places you want to work with has worked for me a couple of times. If there are hiring/networking events for your field, even online ones, I’d recommend that too. Best success I’ve had landing interviews is through these kind of events and I’ve only done online ones.
Oh, so if it’s going to be down voted anyway, then a lot of down votes feels good? Guess that’s more validating than a middling response
I guess getting people to rage can feel validating, knowing that I’ve made someone rage quit a game feels satisfying for sure.
I don’t personally feel that way about sites like Lemmy/Reddit/Social-media in general where things are more discussion and social-interaction based though. I guess for my kind of discourse goals, if I’ve made someone angry rather than laugh or understand my perspective, I’ve done a bad job.
Genuinely curious, does that mean that, for you, getting downvoted gives you dopamine/a sense of accomplishment?
Your above comment is in the negative when I’m making this comment. Does that feel good? Again, genuinely curious, hard to put a non-judgemental tone in writing.
I can’t relate to that feeling, upvotes and downvotes to me show how much a community agrees or disagrees with what I’ve said. Either what I said isn’t right for the community I posted it in or maybe just a generally unpopular opinion if I’m getting downvotes. Might make me reflect but usually no big deal, I’m mostly here for the discussions, memes and current events. Outside of trolling I don’t really see how getting downvoted might be seen as a good thing by a poster.
That is odd… I browse “All” by “Hot” maybe two or three times a day and see new things frequently. Maybe it’s an instance issue? I’m not familiar with lemm.ee and if they’ve done a lot of defederating
I tried the first episode but barely got a quarter way through. Made me too sad
Agreed, this particular type of person I can at least feel empathy for. Feeling the system has failed and deciding that someone who will blow it all up is better than someone who will maintain the status quo.
I feel that people like your brother are in the minority though and most of Trump’s voters like his policies, and so I completely blame them, but that’s just my gut feeling, I don’t have stats or studies.
In the waters around coral reefs I’ve always noticed a constant clicking/scraping nose. I was told as a kid that’s the sound of the coral polyps but I never really looked into it. Grew up snorkeling a whole lot in my home country and that was the first thing your post made me think of.
No no, it’s turtles all the way down
First insect meat I ever ate was some kind of BBQ tarantula in Cambodia. It was amazing. I don’t shy away from insect meat at all now. I’ve even been to a Michelin Star restaurant that has insect based dishes. It’s a cultural aversion, I get it, but the right insects prepared the right ways are great
There’s tons of plant based proteins already. Having already added more vegan meals to my diet I think this would just be another option for me and one more for novelty than anything else
Plus people have just kinda been putting mouse traps in the machine here and there.
I get it might not be for everyone. Until the main thing happened the first time I wasn’t sold either, but personally, the game does an amazing job at making me naturally and fervently curious about what the heck was going on
I came to say Outer Wilds as well. Honestly changed my perspective on what a video game can be and I can’t find any other game that gives me that same feeling. The only bad thing about Outer Wilds is you can only really experience it once
Nothing that would be proprietary, I don’t work in software or tech. And a simple find and replace all gets rid of any confidential or personal information before I paste it into any AI. Redacting and/or concealing confidential info has been a thing I’ve had to do way before AI
I use it to summarize work notes.
My work often involves talking a lot of observation notes and I used to spend a lot of time sifting through them to make the actual summaries and analyses. Now AI basically does my first draft and I can even ask it to highlight examples of different things from my notes. It honestly saves me a lot of time and effort but also proves to me that on it’s own, AI still isn’t good enough to beat a real human expert, it’s just WAY faster and gets me like 70~80% of the way there in seconds. I was at a conference just a few weeks back and found at least one other person in my field of work doing the same and a lot more people were looking to adopt it for this kind of use specifically after our discussions.
Do whatever I could to get sustainable energy going, just invest in all the renewable energy projects. Let’s get everyone going with solar panels! Wind farms wherever we can! Free charging stations for everything!!! Oh, your battery tech project needs funding? Here’s all the money you need!
That I stopped playing Zelda AND Pokémon
Yes, didn’t realize this when I got mine years ago just looking for a Kindle replacement I could also take notes on. Being able to install Android apps opened up a whole lot of possibilities, like reading Manga with Mihon, work stuff with Google Suite, etc. Now I’m even looking to upgrade to a colored screen model. Honestly, worth the price IMO
