  • I think many of us have been here before. The first thing to realize is that… you aren’t the first and won’t be the last. I’m sorry you’ve had trouble in life. I’m having trouble now too, but different… and feel there’s nobody I can really talk to about it. I have friends who are also having trouble and while we talk, the reality is that all my good wishes and time to time help doesn’t solve their problems either. In the end it’s up to them.

“Life is a struggle” isn’t just an axiom.

The first thing any lonely person can do is really learn to love spending time with themselves. It involves a lot of soul searching, exploring, learning what things in life interest them enough to explore on their own. When you accomplish that, take what you’re interested in and go find other people who are interested in it. Two people in the world who might be meant for each other, but just stay at home because they don’t want to get out there… will never ever meet.

Life is work. Friends are work. Relationships are work. If you just want to be happy alone and by yourself, guess what? Work.

This is a crossroads in your life, where you get to decide which way to go. It may seem overwhelming, but in the end it starts with one simple thing. What thing in the world makes you happy? If that’s nothing, then start with, what thing in the world makes you less sad?

Every house has a foundation. Time to build yours.

  • This. People will ignore a lot of ugliness as long as they’re making money. If it’s just about his financial success and not about what Musk stands for, it may be disingenuous to call him a Nazi sympathizer.

That being said, it’s also true that most ways to make lots of money is on the backs of victims. If this is the part that is offensive to you, but he continues to embrace it even when the topic has been carefully explored, then you should do what helps you stay sane.

I just don’t recommend abandoning friendships lightly.

  • If y’all aren’t already aware the first test date for Consumer Power is on Feb 28th. Don’t buy ANYTHING on that date. Yeah, it’s brief, it will probably be a blip, but this is like a test of the emergency broadcast system. If we can get say 2% of people to do that, then watch closely for reactions, it will help us spread the word for the 2nd test. Then the 3rd. It’s only through this grassroots organization that we can accomplish anything.

I had a friend tell me that they’d already seen organizations trying to make it their idea and honestly, I’m not at all concerned about who is putting their brand on it. The POINT here is that we need to start exercising our muscles to make this a real tool for change. Stop focusing on that message and start embracing the larger goal here. Spread the word. RESIST.

  • Sorry, maybe because I’m American, so in case our other friends are confused… Managers are below Executives in every capacity and when you ‘flatten’ your radial grid, they mean firing managers. They are the yessiest of the yes men in corporate america.

C-Suite = CEO, CTO, CFO, etc.

Executives = Presidents, Vice Presidents, Directors, etc.

Managers = The people who manage the workers, ie handle scheduling, duties, metrics, and having to eventually fire someone because the people above tell them to.

Workers = The people who actually know the job.

  • It comes down to the number of mouths that have to fed at the end of the day. Individuals producing news stories appear ‘free’ for the masses because they have alternative ways of earning, such as monetization on a large platform.

News agencies, however, are in a strange place these days. They used to be private and used to have a default subscription fee. You paid for the paper or you read one that someone left behind somewhere. Nobody’s buying papers anymore and they’ve had to move online. In addition they’ve been purchased by giant conglomerates or billionaires. It’s no longer a matter of making sure their employees are fed by producing a great product… the billionaires and CEO’s just want money. Since everyone’s ad-blocking these days they charge subscriptions and leverage tech to deny their product to those who don’t pay.

There will always be alternative news sources, and god knows I prefer them to 18 tv stations in the same city using the exact same propagandized scripts. You just have to put in the effort to look for them. That’s the fee you’re paying. Time.

  • Back in 1988 I had a school project with a few people, one of whom came from a wealthy family. The project was regarding the stock market, and each team was given a certain amount of imaginary money to invest, to see who would win out at the end of the semester. My friend with the wealthy family came back with a recommendation from his father, of course, and we won the contest easily.

The recommendation? Put all our funds into Berkshire Hathaway.

I had the golden goose egg right in front of me and never invested a dime.
