Trans rights are human rights, and how you treat anyone in your society is how you treat everyone. Democrats were scared in the '80s and '90s to support gay people for this exact reason, and instead of losing elections they started winning because people realize gay people are people. They lost elections because they weren’t brave enough to stand with the courage of their convictions, and in my opinion that’s what they deserved.
Only now? It’s been two years of this and now they’ve had too much? No partial credit should be given for people that continued to participate when it was clear what was happening.
It takes an existing logo, an existing background, and some text you specify as input, and makes a single image with all of those elements as output. So I guess once you’ve done the hard work of making a logo and finding a good background to use, this tool lets you combine them with code instead of whatever image editor you used for the existing elements?
Recent studies show it doesn’t work at all, and has likely caused irreparable harm to people whose academics have been judged by all of the services out there. It has finally been admitted that it didn’t work and likely won’t work.

This bullshit is so wrong on so many levels. It’s laughable. I’m beginning to think you don’t pay $40,000 in taxes, unless maybe it’s from an inheritance though. Out of a trust fund every month. Nobody with actual life experience believes any of this bullshit.
In the US, close to half of the winnings do go to the lottery, plus a portion of each lottery ticket usually goes to fund some government agency. Schools, programs for the impoverished and disenfranchised, etc.
The real question, in my opinion, is if you are willing to spend that much money on a ticket, why aren’t you willing to spend that much money on just outright funding government programs? Imagine if 100% of what someone paid for a ticket went to programs for the disenfranchised? That could make real difference.
Their depiction of “nerds” was also offensive and shitty in many of the same ways. But because that’s what the writers told you is nerd behavior and culture, it seemed more acceptable somehow.
British TV is, as a friend said to me once, dire. So it would make sense that it landed better there. I mean, clearly lots of Americans watched it, and I know a few that loved it. I just think less of them. 😁
Any show that needs a laugh track to tell you when it’s trying to be funny isn’t going to be funny. I actually heard a perfect description of why BBT wasn’t good (to me) a couple weeks ago from the Venture Bros creators. BBT was a show created by people outside nerd culture trying to tell nerds what nerd culture is. And IMO it entirely missed the mark.
Big bang theory. It was absolute garbage.
The day always comes, or you trade it before and someone else picks up the pieces. I’m sure whoever has my Model 3 is happy I replaced t he blown drive unit, but they’ll have to replace the next one out of pocket.
Tesla. Literally everything involving Tesla. Customer support, vehicle service, sales. And it’s gotten worse over the years, so I’m a one-and-done customer.
I’m not here to defend racism, phobias, or any other kind of discriminatory behavior. But if you look deep enough into anybody, you’re going to find something you or someone you know doesn’t like. I can guarantee it. Are some of the original developers of a specific set of software “problematic”? Yup. Have more contributors come forward and added to the software in meaningful ways since then? Yup.
Do you use Linux? Windows? Mac OS? Do you use Ethernet? Wifi? What about IP, or TCP, or even application protocols like HTTP? Do you enjoy TLS and AES encryption? What about the Internet as a concept? Every single one of these was developed by fallible people, funded by organizations I bet you’d have problems with. The military industrial complex has contributed heavily to every single one of the above technologies.
And just for the record, a lot of the people that originally designed the ActivityStream and ActivityPub standards were people concerned about marginalized Internet users. Use the software, choose an instance that’s like-minded, contribute improvements where you have expertise, and move on. The original developers of the Lemmy software don’t matter, nor do their politics or their biases. They simply wrote some Rust and Javascript to run a webserver and interface that saves data to a database. What you do with that tool is what really matters.
The current democratic party isn’t standing for trans rights any better than anyone else. Perhaps individual politicians are, but the party has a lot of de facto republicans in the ranks. So vote for them or not, they aren’t going to make things better for folks that are trans. They also aren’t ending wars, reducing military spending, helping vulnerable people seeking asylum, helping homeless people, providing free mental healthcare or national healthcare at all, and so on. Hell, they haven’t enshrined abortion rights into law in the past almost 50 years.
People vote for democrats because of tradition and lesser-of-the-evils reasons. That’s it. That’s a shitty place to be, and should embarrass us the voters as well as the party.
