I was at an OHL (minor league hockey) game and they had a couple of very little kids teams come out to skate around the ice before the anthem and puck drop, but while the kids were skating around they rolled out a long carpet to centre ice for the anthem singer to walk out on. Every single kid came around the corner right into the carpet and wiped out, one by one, someone ran out on the carpet waving their arms to try and tell them to STOP! but they either couldn’t stop or didn’t notice and all of them ate it.
The crowd was a mix of people horrified and going OH NOOOO and others laughing their asses off. It was quite the scene.
smokebuddy [he/him]to Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Help me find some luxury (strange) product have rrazor and blade business model ? The more funny and controversy the better.3•3MI’m in Canada and it’s how I got all my meters until I got switched to a CGM. The hospital sent me home with a starter pack with a brand and some samples. I’ve never seen generic strips here, but that would be welcome. I’ve used FreeStyle and AccuChek and both required the branded strips, but never had to pay for a meter. I’ve seen commercials on TV for Contour doing the same deal.
Best Buy used to/might still idk sell a meter under the brand iHealth, the strips were about half the price. I tried it out and it worked fine but eventually I got proper insurance and used what was prescribed.

How fucked are you?6•3MI would hope that all the politicians and celebrities people actually parasocially care about would get all the attention something like this would stir up and compared with how awful so many of them are in public, even the worst posts of mine would hopefully end up pretty tame in comparison to whatever they’re up to anonymously.
smokebuddy [he/him]to Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What HATED or highly disliked movie you ACTUALLY really enjoyed?27•3MI really like Wild Wild West, I didn’t watch it for forever because of how hated it is/was but thought it was actually funny and enjoyed the mix of steampunk and goofyness. Kevin Kline is always great.
I also like Jingle All the Way and watch it every few years, it’s perfectly watchable until the very end when it collapses under a terrible CGI spectacle that just doesn’t work
I thought the North American Brita system is a different product sold under license by Clorox, I looked it up again now and it’s unclear, it might just be a different size/shape? I’ll take a look at where they’re made next time im out. Would be funny if I swore that I could taste a difference and they were the same all along
I’ve tried a few, Zerowater, Brita and the Mavea. I stuck with the Mavea system, apparently it’s the European Brita. The jug was an overpriced import from Amazon but the filters are available at Walmart and Canadian Tire, some coffee machines use them.
Personally I think it’s the best tasting of the three, and the zerowater takes FOREVER to filter
smokebuddy [he/him]to Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which dystopic megacorp do we get first in our brave new world?3•5MIn Canada we already have Power Corporation (what a name), they’ve owned our Prime Ministers for decades

smokebuddy [he/him]to Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What would happen if dead leaves suddenly became the most valuable currency in the world?3•5MThe price of rakes and yard vacuums would skyrocket. City parks would be fenced off and guarded by armed militia the way natural diamond deposits are. In cartoons, those giant paper yard waste bags would be the new sack with dollar sign printed on them. Everyone would suddenly hate the Toronto Maple Leafs (oh they already do? never mind that one)
Project Farm tested a bunch of them and used a decibel meter, results at 7:04-7:30
I’m unclear what percentage is bots and what is oblivious people with nothing useful to add but a compulsion to contribute anyway.
I’m convinced (without evidence) that the bots who have wholesale taken over that aren’t just copying and pasting are LLMs instructed to respond “in the sarcastic tone of a redditor”.
With bots being the majority, any actual human who enters the conversation either emulates that style to fit in, or to seek the upvotes/approval of everyone else who gets it for responding in that way.
The LLMs then train off this new, more toxic engagement going forward, creating an Ouroboros-esque race to the bottom
Cities Skylines with a thousand or so assets can need more than 32 as well.
