Going to the gym is so boring for me. I ended up finding an activity that I enjoy doing that also happens to be good exercise and started kickboxing about 9 months ago. The people there are very friendly and they text me if I don’t show up for a while, so there’s more accountability that I would typically have.

I recently tried out an “LED banner” (called LED scroller in the google play store) app that lets you scroll text on your screen. Pretty cool, I would totally pay $5 or maybe even $10 for it. In the free version, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many ads in such a short period of time. The paid version was $15 PER WEEK. That’s $780 per year. To scroll some text. It’s the only app I’ve ever bothered to post a review for.

I did some research on the population today. Every page I’ve looked at says it’s going to peak around the 2080’s at around 10.4 billion and then start declining.

IF I have kids with my current partner it would probably be in about 3-5 years.

Passing down knowledge and raising a (hopefully) good person are among my main reasons for having kids.

If you don’t mind me asking, how old were you when you became a father? I’m 37, my dad was 45 when he had me. If I do end up having kids I damn sure do not feel ready.

Has anyone close to you told you that you should have kids?

Steam would be a great place to start. Tons of games, many of them free. If you’re willing to buy some hardware, getting a Switch would be a good bet. Lots of excellent games, many of them are beginner-friendly.

Or don’t give Meta any money. Idk, I just don’t want something made by Meta that has cameras and an internet connection inside my home.

There was an outstanding RTS game from 1997 called Total Annihilation. The soundtrack was 11/10, it was made by Jeremy Soule, the guy who did the Skyrim soundtrack. Some might say that Supreme Commander 2 is their most recent successor to TA, but they are wrong. Check out Beyond All Reason (BAR). It’s in Alpha and it’s free but it’s already sooooo good.

Desktop. Powerful laptops don’t have enough space for proper heat management. I had a laptop with a Xeon processor and I could get it up to 100C and it would shut off.

I’ll check that out. I ended up uploading some pics from my desktop.

Here are some of the parts I have so far. The part I’m printing now is highlighted in orange. I’m going to pause the print, insert a steel mesh, and keep printing, hopefully embedding the mesh in the pad adapter.

I very recently started making my own headphones. It turns out you can just buy headphone parts, so I ordered some AKG drivers, Grado headband and gimbal rings, brainwavs pads, and a few other parts. Still waiting on some parts but I’ve CAD’ed up some of the cans and the pad adapters, hopefully going to print some later tonight. My Lemmy app is kinda shitty and I’ve never been able to upload pics in comments but I’ll try and add them when I’m at my computer later. I’m making them somewhat modular so I can try out different combinations of drivers, pads, and can geometry. Initially all the structure will be 3D printed but later I might mill out some nice hardwood once I find a design that I like.

I don’t understand, they’re almost the same thing.

I have an app for my fucking toothbrush. Not everything needs an app.

Something that can utilize a Shazam API or something similar and go through my entire music library (which is full of hundreds of tracks named “Track 1”, “Track 2”, etc.) and title them appropriately, ideally with correct metadata and album art. I would pay a lot for this.

Yeah I switched to Android after iphone removed the headphone jack. Sadly it was only a matter of time before Android followed suit. I had LGs for a while and now I have a pixel.
